Abstrakt: Americká povaha“ – specifika a její kořeny. Článek se zamýšlí nad stereotypem americké povahy, v jakých aspektech ji lze spatřovat, čím se může zdát specifická, a to jak v pozitivním, tak negativním smyslu. Odpovídá na otázku, čím byla a je tato povaha formována, přičemž zdůrazňuje vliv odlišného geografického prostředí a reality historického vývoje USA. Upozorňuje na souvislost mezi mentalitou Američanů, vzestupem USA a jeho potenciálními limity.

Abstract (EN): “American Character” – Its Roots and Common Traits. This article examines stereotypical American character, the aspects in which it can be observed and what makes it unique, both in a positive and negative sense. It answers the question how is and has this national character been formed. The article emphasizes the influence of the different geographic environment and historical development of the US. It points out relationships between the mentality of Americans, the rise of the USA and its potential limits.
