Abstrakt: Americký bar je ambivalentním reprezentantem specifického konceptu místa a jeho proměn, které lze vnímat jakožto jeden z projevů transatlantických transformací. Instituce American Bar symbolizovala během první poloviny 20. století nově etablovaný kulturní prvek. Fenomén postupně pronikal do celé společnosti a lze na něj nahlížet jako na cestující koncept místa setkání. V české ani světové odborné literatuře nebylo dosud téma proměn míst v kontextu transatlantických transformací dostatečně reflektováno, a tak je současný výzkum v tomto směru významným bodem pro přístupy humánní geografie a okrajově rovněž v oblasti kulturní geografie.

Abstract (EN): The American Bar: A Symbol of the Americanization of Europe? The American Bar is an ambivalent representation of a unique concept of place and how place changes over time. As such it can be viewed as a manifestation of transatlantic transformation. During the first half of the 20th century, the institution of the American Bar symbolized newly established cultural elements that were gradually penetrating into society as a whole. This venue for cultural transmission can be viewed as a passenger concept venue. Scientific literature, in Czechia or in the world as a whole, has not sufficiently entertained the concept of place within the context of transatlantic transformation. This current research about a unique aspect of place could be considered a significant step for approaches to human geography and, perhaps to a lesser degree, to cultural geography as well.
