Abstrakt: Olympijské hry mají i své geografické souvislosti. Text vysvětluje, proč Rusko svou olympiádu organizuje pr ávě v Soči, vysvětluje rozmístění jednotlivých sportovišť i jaká jsou bezpe čnostní rizika (včetně vztahu k Abchazsku).

Abstract (EN): The Olympics in Sochi from a Geographer‘s Perspective. the olympic games have a definite geographic context. this article explains why rus- sia is hosting the olympics in sochi and not elsewhere. it explores the locations of various sport venues for the 2014 Games as well as potential security risks (including relations with nearby abkhazia).
