Abstrakt: Somaliland, od roku 1991 jako nezávislý de facto stát, vytváří své narativy budování státu a národa, jež se soustřeďují na vznik či obnovení nezávislosti od 80. let do roku 1991. Na rozdíl od jiných nových států jsou však v Somalilandu vzácné státem podporované projevy budování státu architektuře a urbanistice sdíleného prostoru. Hargejsa jako hlavní město ztělesňuje spíše komerční a podnikatelské zájmy než uměle budované symboly státu a národa.

Abstract (EN): Hargeisa: The capital as the symbol of the state- and nation-building. Somaliland, de facto independent entity in the Horn of Africa, emerged at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. It creates its state- and nation-building narrative based on the fight for independence. Contrary to other emerging states, the state-supported architecture and urbanism of the capital rarely reflect the same processes in Somaliland. Hargeisa personifies a symbol of commercial interests rather than artificially constructed symbols of the state and the nation.
