Abstrakt: Od poloviny 18. století byl v Brně nastartován nebývalý rozvoj textilního průmyslu a jeho celosvětový věhlas mu přinesl přízvisko moravský Manchester. Textilní průmyslová historie se v průběhu více než 200 let vepsala do současné struktury města jak v podobě původních továren a honosných vil průmyslníků, tak více či méně revitalizovaných brownfields. Ty se postupně stávají součástí historického a architektonického dědictví a osvěty v podobě naučných stezek.

Abstract (EN): Moravian Manchester: the history of the Brno textile industry written in the present. From the middle of the 18th century, unprecedented development of the textile industry started in Brno, and its worldwide fame brought it the nickname of Moravian Manchester. Over more than 200 years, the textile industrial history has been inscribed into the present-day fabric of the city in the form of original factories and splendid villas of factory owners as well as more or less revitalised brownfields. These are gradually becoming part of the historical and architectural heritage and education in the form of nature trails.
