Abstrakt: Příspěvek shrnuje základní informace o středomořském typu klimatu a vegetace. Vysvětleny jsou základní podmínky, které klima středomořského typu charakterizují, a které určují charakter vegetace. Dále jsou představeny hlavní oblasti výskytu v různých částech světa.

Abstract (EN): Mediterranean type of climate and vegetation. The paper summarizes basic information about the Mediterranean type of climate and vegetation. The basic conditions that characterize the Mediterranean-type climate and determine the character of its vegetation are explained. Furthermore, the main areas of occurrence in different parts of the world are presented.
