Abstrakt: Článek popisuje první české cestě kolem světa, kterou vykonali jezuitští misionáři: Josef Pauer (1722–1771) a František Stengel (1723–1785). V období: 1749–1770 urazili na trase Praha – Janov – Cádiz – Veracruz – Acapulco – Guam – Manila – Cádiz – La Spezia – Praha cca 58 300 kilometrů. Díky jejich bezpečně dokumentovanému odjezdu i návratu dnes víme, že Josef Pauer a František Stengel cestu kolem světa zakončili o 54 let dříve než dosud jako první uváděný Čech, botanik Franz Wilhelm Sieber (1789–1844), který všechny poledníky překročil při své cestě (1822–1824).

Abstract (EN): Evidence of the first Czech journey around the world. The article describes the first Czech journey around the world, which was made by Jesuit missionaries: Josef Pauer (1722–1771) and František Stengel (1723–1785). In the period between 1749 and 1770, they covered approximately 58,300 kilometers on the route Prague – Genoa – Cádiz – Veracruz – Acapulco – Guam – Manila – Cádiz – La Spezia – Prague. Thanks to their safely documented departure and return, today we know that Josef Pauer and František Stengel completed their round-the-world journey 54 years earlier than Franz Wilhelm Sieber (1789–1844), who was, until now, considered the first person of Czech origin to cross all the meridians.
