Abstrakt: Článek se věnuje dědictví britského impéria v podobě Commonwealthu, který vznikl 1931 a v současnosti sdružuje 56 států. Zabývá se důvody a okolnostmi jeho vzniku, významem, globální působností a proměnami, kterými organizace za dobu své existence prošla. Poukazuje na výhody, které svým členům přináší, ale i kritické pohledy a otazníky nad smyslem jeho existence v dnešním i budoucím světě.

Abstract (EN): Commonwealth – Legacy of the British Empire. The article focuses on the legacy of the British Empire in the form of the Commonwealth, which was established in 1931 and currently unites 56 states. The article deals with the reasons and circumstances of its creation, significance, global scope and changes that the organization has undergone during its existence. The article focuses on the benefits the organisation brings to its members, as well as on critical views and questions about the meaning of its existence in today's and future world.
