Abstrakt: Hry Commonwealthu jsou mezinárodní multisportovní událostí, které se účastní sportovci z území a teritorií tohoto společenství. Podobně jako olympijské hry se konají každé čtyři roky, bojuje se v nich o zlaté, stříbrné a bronzové medaile, ale hlavně – symbolizují hodnoty přesahující rámec sportu. Tento článek se hrách Commonwealthu věnuje od myšlenky na jejich uspořádání, přes představení účastnických národů, popis sportů, ve kterých se při nich zápolí o vítězství, až po zamyšlení nad jejich budoucností.

Abstract (EN): The Commonwealth Games: A relic of the British Empire with a global message. The Commonwealth Games are an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the countries and territories belonging to this association. Similar to the Olympic Games, they are held every four years, with athletes competing for gold, silver and bronze medals, but most importantly – they symbolize values that go beyond sports. This article covers the Commonwealth Games from the idea of their organization, to the introduction of the participating nations, to the description of their typical sports, to the reflection on their future.
