Abstrakt: Článek předkládá hodnocení dlouhodobých změn využití krajiny v říční nivě středního Polabí od Nymburku k Lysé nad Labem. Pomocí historických map a soudobých leteckých snímků jsou představeny změny v krajině a říčním toku od poloviny 19. století. Jako podkladová data pro sledování historického stavu byly využity mapy stabilního katastru, které se datují v zájmovém území většinou k roku 1842. Zpracování podkladů a prostorová analýza byly provedeny v geoinformačních systémech (GIS).
Abstract (EN): Long-Term Land-Use Change in the Central Labe River Floodplain. This article explores the development of the floodplain along the central reaches of the Labe River, particularly over the last two centuries. It compares the present state of the floodplain with historical land-use patterns in a GIS environment. Due to unfavourable conditions, the lands of the floodplain were quite well protected from human influence until the mid- nineteenth century and, likely as a result of this, remnants of unique ecosystems of lowland forests. The arrival of technological innovations in industry and agriculture brought monumental changes in terms of the intensity of economic activities in floodplains. However, the economic benefits of said changes also have their negative impacts, such as the declining ecological stability of landscapes or the destructive consequences of flood events.
