Abstrakt: Kalamity způsobené lýkožroutem smrkovým jsou dlouhodobým problémem nepůvodních smrkových monokultur, které na mnoha místech evropského kontinentu nahradily původní smíšené lesy. V posledních pěti letech je problematika lýkožrouta smrkového velice aktuální, zejména v souvislosti s národním parkem Šumava.
Abstract (EN): The spruce ips: Pest or key species. The calamity caused by the spruce ips is an ongoing problem in non-native spruce monocultures, which have, in many sites throughout the European continent, replaced indigenous mixed forests. Over the last five years, the issue of the spruce ips is a very acute problem, particularly in connection with Šumava National Park. It is a society-wide topic, which is currently being addressed not only by natural scientists and forest experts, but also by political representatives, the media and even the general public.
